UoW anglers unusual Big Ten catch

Madison, WI (September 5th, 2008) - Calling all Midwest teams!  The University of Wisconsin - Madison fishing team is hosting a collegiate fishing tournament northern style and anyone who is a collegiate fishing team member and enrolled in college is welcome to participate  “We are wanting to host a tournament that will help strengthen collegiate teams and events throughout the Midwest” related Lee Zinn UoW Club President.  “It is hard for many Midwest teams to constantly travel to the south to fish national level tournaments, due to expenses of being in college and a bass angler at the same time” said Zinn. 

We are excited about this event and it goes hand in hand with the CBAA mission objective of providing localized events for student anglers.  This is a great opportunity and alternative for expensive southern trips, we are excited to assist Lee and UoW team promote this event” said Troy Heckaman, CBAA Commissioner. 

The Details: 

- Fishing the Madison Madison Chain of Lakes (lake Waubesa, Monona, and Mendota)
- September 20th will be a pre-fish day, followed by a social in which all teams are welcome to attend, to socialize and discuss the future of collegiate fishing in the Midwest and how we can have more of an influence on the national scene. - September 21st the actual tournament (Safe Light (7AM) -3PM) - Six fish bag limit per two man team - No entrance fee or money payout-Launch and weigh-in site is TBD.

We wish Lee and the UoW team much success in this endeavor. The Midwest is home to many great student anglers and teams and we encourage anyone interested in collegiate angling and/or amateur athletics to become an active part of this event, either as a participant and/or event support.
