Is the Collegiate Bass Anglers Association (CBAA) a for-profit company?
No, CBAA is a national not-for-profit 501 (C) 3 (application pending) amateur athletic organization, and the sanctioning body of collegiate angling.
Is the CBAA owned by The Bass Federation (TBF), FLW Outdoors or ESPN owned B.A.S.S.?
No, CBAA is an independently owned and operated.
Do you have to be a TBF, FLW Outdoors or B.A.S.S. member to be a CBAA member?
No. CBAA has recently made the decision to not require membership with any other organization. CBAA is not affiliated with any national fishing related organization.
Do you have to be in a CBAA club to be a CBAA member?
To be eligible to compete in CBAA sanctioned events, you must be a member of an officially recognized student organization at the institution where you are enrolled as a full time student. Team leadership (Advisor and/or President) must submit a current team roster, with paid dues, to the CBAA by the prescribed deadline (December 15th) to receive official CBAA status and recognition for the next calendar years events.
In the event that you are a full time student at an accredited institution that does not have an existing recognized student organization for fishing/angling, you may request individual CBAA membership and carried as a member on the CBAA chapter roster.
How do I start a CBAA club at my school?
In the event that you attend a college or university that does not have an existing recognized student fishing organization, contact CBAA via our website or via e-mail at info@collegiatebass.org and request assistance. One of our “keystone” services is to assist students navigate through the club development process. Is the CBAA a tournament trail?
Opportunities are being pursued: Members initially qualify at the club level through a minimum of two sanctioned club events to determine roster eligibility for CBAA Conferences (regional events) and National Championship. This process will also determine angler eligibility for consideration for possible participation in CBAA “special events”. Details are pending concerning additional CBAA programs that will provide more localized opportunities for CBAA members.
When are CBAA membership fees due?
Team rosters, individual memberships and applicable dues are due to CBAA by December 15th annually, and will activate ALL membership benefits for the following calendar year.
